If you haven't had a professional cleaning in a while, you may experience some bleeding in your gums during the cleaning process. Rest assured, our hygienists are extremely gentle and will proceed at a pace that suits your needs and comfort. In case your mouth feels slightly sore after the cleaning, an over-the-counter pain reliever will provide relief.

During a dental cleaning, your dental hygienist will thoroughly examine your gums, checking for any signs of recession or periodontal pocketing. They will then carefully remove plaque and tartar from around your gum line and between your teeth. Once your teeth are free of tartar, they will use a high-tech electric brush to polish them and finish by flossing between your teeth. Additionally, we always conduct an oral cancer screening during each visit. If you are prone to cavities or have chronic tooth sensitivity, we may also suggest a prescription fluoride treatment or mouthwash.

Your dental insurance typically provides full coverage for your biannual dental cleanings. While you are required to make the payment during your visit, our office is pleased to assist you in submitting a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement.
